Having a child requires some form of planning and preparation. Most women have probably thought about having or not having children and how to achieve this goal. It is important to write your plans down and begin to make a birth plan. Mommy Monitor offers a free birth plan template for parents. You can also complete our Intake Form to connect with our Maternal Health Navigators to assist you with any questions you may have. Birth plans are helpful communication tools that allow all of your providers to know what you would like to happen to you and your baby immediately after the birth and your preferences for what you would like if things do not go as planned.
While you might not be able to control everything that happens during your pregnancy and labour, having a plan can help you think through your preferences and any alternatives that you may come across throughout the process. Knowing what to expect can help ease any feelings of stress or anxiety and help you prepare. Beginning to write your birth plan early on can give you time to think about and perhaps discuss with your partner your preferences for the birth and ask your healthcare provider any questions you may have. Your preferences may change over the course of your pregnancy.
